Home page widgets can be moved, minimized, and even closed.  To close a widget, click the "x" at the right hand side of the title bar.  This will place in in the "Additional" list, which functions as the "toolbox" of tools which have been "put away".  To restore a widget to the Home screen, place your mouse over the widget title here, click, and drag the widget back out to the location you would like it to appear.
